Auto Loan Interest Rates Just Went Up – Industry Worried

Most auto industry analysts knew it was coming, higher interest rates for new cars, indeed most consumers in the market for a new car probably also considered it. The subprime fallout has hit the US Auto Industry and auto loan rates just went up. Are you worried? Well if you are in the auto industry or even in the after market auto industry then you know this is indeed serious for your business or livelihood.

If you have a high credit score and golden credit then it may not be so bad, yet the truth is that most US consumers have some blemishes on their credit reports, whether it is theirs or from an Identity Theft criminal event. If your credit is not perfect and you think you are going to get a good interest rate or good deal on a loan – think again.

In fact, for the not so great credit folks you may find it hard to get a loan at all. What does this mean for auto dealers? Well one industry analyst stated that the estimated sales for 2007 should have been 16.5 million cars sold, but now most are revising it to 15.9 to 16.1 million cars. That is a huge difference of between 400,000 to 600,000 fewer cars. It means layoffs, factory slow downs and less profit. It will hurt the industry. Automotive News Magazine stated:

“NADA chief economist Paul Taylor predicted that U.S. sales of new cars and light trucks this year would roughly equal the 2006 mark of 16.5 million. Now Taylor predicts 2007 sales could dip as low as 16.1 million units. At the same time, some lenders have raised interest rates on vehicle loans to subprime buyers. Dealers in markets where subprime mortgage problems are most acute report slumping sales at their stores.”

US Automakers will be hurt worst as they are struggling to regain market share from the advancing Toyota and Honda Brands, worse the first Chinese Autos will hit the first Chinese Auto Dealership in the US, in New Jersey by mid-2008. The question is how much more pounding can these companies take and what will this do to consumer confidence as we dip into the next downward trend in the US Business Cycle.

Why did all this happen? Well, when automakers want to sell more cars and when there is an abundance of retained earnings or easy to get to ‘large amounts’ of capital, this combination can spark a bubble. As long as things are good, no one says anything until things are not good anymore – then a quick tightening must occur to prevent a bubble pop, sometimes it’s handled correctly and at other times it’s too late. Please consider all this and think on it – because history always repeats.

Pre Approved Auto Loans

Pre-approved auto loans are promoted as being a way to get the very best offer at the dealerships when purchasing an automobile. In concept, people who proceed into the purchasing process with pre-approved automobile loans prior to, they obtain to the dealerships possess a strong negotiating position than those that don’t. On my experience people who’ve pre-approved auto loans aren’t aided that much in the bargaining procedure. The majority of dealers possess a bottom line that they can visit, and that is as far as they’ll proceed whether the buyers have pre-authorized automobile loans or not. In today’s difficult financial times buyers are most likely to get a good offer, whether they have pre-autorized auto loans or otherwise not. It has is also my experience that most shops will try to get you to utilize for a mortgage through their monetary resources.

If your credit score rating or FICO score isn’t inthe “good” or”excellent” class a pre-approved automobile loan, especially ones that you simply could possibly get online on the web, will save the humiliation ofbeing declined to get a loan toyour face orgetting the dealer tell you that they need much more time totry and find financing for you. In my own experience, Capital 1 Auto Finance has among the quickest on-line reply occasions for a pre-approved auto loan – And itisthe most likely tosimply accept the application and provide you with a loan incase your FICO score isinthe high poor orvery low weak values (600 orso). Assoon asyou have been approved, they will mail you a check that you get towards the dealerships and make out towards the dealer for as much asthe pre-approved quantity, beneath the circumstances from the mortgage that are discussed later. Having a pre-approved automobile loan you know upfront just how much you can spend onthe automobile and what the car payments will probably be.

On this regard, you can go into the automobile purchasing procedure becoming a knowledgeable consumer, understanding price array of cars that you can think about. Beware though that most pre-approved auto loans will have limitations as towards the age of the automobile, the mileage on the car, minimum worth from the loan, and as well as the maximum value from the mortgage. Numerous pre-approved automobile loans may as well require that you purchase the automobile from a dealerships that is registered or pre-authorized by the loan business this kind of as a brand title dealership (Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, and so on), a business such as CarMax or one of the national lease automobile companies that sell their utilized rental cars. Generally, a pre-approved automobile mortgage can’t be used to purchase an automobile from an individual or one of the independent utilized automobile lots that you simply see on numerous metropolis streets.

The interest rate around the pre-authorized automobile mortgage will also generally differ depending upon the year from the automobile. A brand new car may have the cheapest interest rate and an older utilized car the highest. This particular variation in interest rates may differ can much as four – 5%. There is one major “gotcha” that 1 has to be conscious of when using pre-authorized auto loans, especially to get a used automobile that does not possess any seller rebates related from it. Most pre-approved auto loans possess a provision that the mortgage is good for 105% or 110% from the NADA worth of the automobile. NADA is definitely an association which puts out appraisal ideals of cars. The problems arise in the following situation.

You want to buy a used car that the dealer will sell for that NADA value. Nevertheless, you also need to pay tax, title and license. In Texas the tax charge could be as high as 8.5%, plus the title and license charges. These additional costs may place the total price from the automobile more than the 105% of the NADA worth of the car. In this case, that which you believed was 100% financing with your pre-approved loans will leave you owing some cash in the time from the sale.

Auto Loans For People With No Credit Or Bad Credit

A bad credit signifies that the person has a poor credit history due to various reasons such as skipping the monthly loan redemption amount (Monthly installments that one pays to “pay off” the loan), untimely loan repayment habits, exceeding the credit limit, and even declaring bankruptcy. Basically, all the financial activities associated with the loan are recorded by the lenders when they provide the loan facility.

When the person starts making timely payments to the lender, the fact is included in the credit history, and this creates a “good” impression of the borrower, which will improve the credit ratings. However, when the opposite happens i.e. the person fails to fulfill the terms and conditions mentioned in the loan agreement, it creates a negative or a “bad” impression which lowers the credit score. This gives rise to “bad credit” ratings. On the other hand, some individuals like college graduates and business persons using cash while carrying out their financial transactions do not have any credit record or history, since they might have never availed any credit or loan facilities in the past. Such a condition is interpreted as a “no credit” status.

In both the cases, financers and money lenders hesitate while providing the loan, since they are unsure about the repayment capacity of the borrower. So both the credit conditions create problems for the loan applicant when he or she applies for the credit facility. The money lenders thus provide loans having stringent terms and conditions associated with the repayment activity to these kinds of borrowers. Typically financers provide “no credit auto loans” to individuals having a “no credit” type of credit status, and “bad credit auto loans” to those who do not have a good credit history.

Bad Credit Loans

The main problems associated with a bad credit status can prevent the applicant from getting the much required car loan. The issues are;

• The rate of interest associated with bad credit auto loans is higher as compared to a traditional or a normal loan generally provided by banks and lending institutes. While availing auto loans for people with bad credit, the interest rate depends upon the person’s credibility which is stated by the credit history. When the repaying history is not so good and indicates late or missed monthly payments, the lenders choose to earn back the capital provided as soon as possible, and keeping a higher rate of interest facilitates them in doing just that.

• Bad credit ratings also indicate a possibility of “bad debt” in the past. So a higher debt to income ratio indicates there is a greater likely hood of the borrower defaulting in the future. The lenders cater to this risk factor by linking strict repayment plans and heavy fines and penalties for late or missed payments. The idea is to create conditions which force the borrower to make regular payments, and by imposing heavy fines as well as penalties, the borrower is intimidated in being more regular with the redemption.

• Individuals availing a bad credit auto loan cannot opt for the bankruptcy option and write off the outstanding amount of unsecured loans such as credit card credit loans.

No Credit Loans

The following pointers can help you in creating good credit ratings which can help the borrowers avail auto loans for people with no credit;

• It’s recommended to open a savings account. This creates an impression that the individual is responsible and believes in saving money. Lenders believe if the person is likely to save money; it is going to be easy to recover the outstanding dues in case the person defaults in the future.

• Avail credit card facilities and go in for low credit limits. Make sure you do not overdraw, and make timely credit card payments so that your account remains in good standing. It is important to make sure you do not incur any credit card debt. Maintaining a proper account status will reflect within the credit history and improve your ratings and credit score.

• While applying for the online auto loans, make sure you exhibit a sound and steady background to your lender. Stating a permanent residential address, longer employment history and proof, valid contact numbers that are operative can go a long way in creating a good impression and improving your credit scores.

• Getting a good reference from your employer or business associates can further strengthen your application for your no credit auto loan.

• If possible get a co-signer who can vouch for you and provide the financial guarantee to the moneylender.

Searching for Auto Loans – Some Tips

Very few people use their own funds when they decide to buy a car but how much do you know about auto loans? This kind of loan is widely available and increasing numbers of people are applying for it as they are secured by liens on the automobiles being financed; as payments are made, the loan gradually reduces in favor of the borrower. Before you can decide on the type of car you want you will need to ascertain your budget level; then it just a simple matter of carrying out a search online.

The best way to search for a car is using the many online services now available which speed up the search tremendously as all you need to do is enter the type of car and budget and the search engines can do the rest, all without leaving your home. If you have a specific car in mind but the amount you can borrow won’t cover the cost of a new car then why not go for the same model but a couple of years older and get a real bargain. Despite the ease with auto loans can be obtained, they can be refused if the applicant has a bad credit record so check to make sure there aren’t any problems first.

After reviewing it find out if there is anything that needs to be fixed as a bad credit or any error may affect your rate and you may have to pay more interest. To take advantage of preferential interest rates, applicants need to have a score above the 550 mark; those below this level will probably be charged more if they do not clean up their record. Auto loans are available through many different sources including your bank, the internet, credit union and of course the car dealership themselves but rates will vary so shop around for the best deal.

Although it is a good idea to keep your monthly repayments low, this is only one thing to consider and low repayments now may mean increase costs later on. Do not fall into the trap of believing that the lowest monthly repayment is going to be easiest in the long run as the overall loan cost will probably be greater. Protection insurance can be a good idea and you will often find that interest rates may be slightly lower; the finance company does not have the same risk if protection is in place, should anything happen to the borrower.

Most car dealerships will offer a rebate against the car if you decide to take out their finance package and this is a worthwhile action to take; however, there is nothing stopping your from applying for finance at a lower interest rate online once you have received the rebate. It is quite normal for lenders to make charges when a loan is arranged but neither E-Loans nor Capital One Auto Finance make any charge and these are both available online. You will find the best interest rates, unsurprisingly, from internet based finance companies and these are the rates that car dealers must try to better.

Five Reasons for Refusal of a Personal Loan

Don’t you wish personal finance were a mandatory course in college? Unfortunately, too many of us learn by mistake. When you need a personal loan and are rejected, you might be baffled as to what went wrong- and how to fix it. Here are some clues.

NO CREDIT

No credit is a situation where you have never used credit and therefore have no credit history for the bank to review. They have no way of making an educated decision on whether or not you will pay back a personal loan based on your credit history. No credit is worse than bad credit. Qualifying for and making regular payments on these types of introductory forms of credit can overcome a “no credit” score:

· Student Loans

· Secured credit card (includes a down payment amount)

· Being added to a parent’s or spouses good credit: card, car loan, etc.

LOW CREDIT

Low credit takes on several forms. If you’re using more than 30% of your allowable debt, it can negatively impact your score. Too many inquiries from shopping around for loans will also hit you hard. Lapses in payment, defaults, or bankruptcies are giant red flags and can take a long time to rebuild from.

Other things that lenders may look at are whether or not you have sizeable assets should you default on the loan. They also check to see if your debts are diversified or if you are only carrying one type of debt.

INCOME

Proof of income is generally required when applying for a personal loan. If you are unemployed or underemployed, it can work against you in the loan approval process. Lenders may also require a work history to see how long you have been with your current employer, and to determine if you typically have job stability. Frequent job loss or change will tell a creditor that your payments may not be reliable.

PURPOSE OF THE LOAN

Believe it or not, your application can be rejected due to your proposed purpose for the loan. Financial institutions have the right to set up the parameters surrounding their disbursements and can accept or reject your application based on what you want to use the money for.

BLACKLISTING

If you’ve defaulted on debt before, your name may be put on a list of whom not to loan to,’ also known as a “Blacklist.” This will follow you around for a long time and is difficult to erase. If you do resolve the debt issues, get documents to prove the resolution.

NO CREDIT CHECK LOAN

If you need a loan now, but are concerned that you might not qualify for a personal line of credit, you can qualify for a No Credit Check Loan. You could be on your way to a better financial future in no time!

A Latin Impact on the Finance Industry

Financial Institutions are a fantastic business model to learn from when considering ever changing market conditions. Their traditional target markets are stable, but, the needs of an emerging market, the Latino market is extremely underserved. It is certainly not for lack of money. Many Latinos have zero debt and healthy saving habits. The question arises, are financial institutions doing enough to serve this population? Are they adapting to the Latino needs? The answer is complicated.

There are two types of Latinos in the USA. One is the immigrant seeking a better life and wanting the American dream, whether they came through the proper channels or not it is irrelevant. The second, are the Latinos that are born here. These are two very different groups of people with different needs and goals. Most immigrants bring their culture, traditions, and customs with them to the US. Those born here develop a blended culture that is both Latino and American.

Financial Institutions are taking notice and making strides to accommodate this very economically influential population. The main reason is that there is a lot of investment in education and developing trust. An untold detail is that in Latino countries, people do not trust banks and financial institution because of corruption. Everything is paid in cash and there are no debt or traditional credit scores. This means that the Latino community have cash, probably stored under their mattress or in a shoe box. This is very dangerous considering that a house fire could burn an entire life savings. Another scenario is they could become a target for robbery. This is a foreign concept for Americans. What is happening is a huge learning curve, educating them on the process of building credit, saving their money in a financial institution, getting loans (mortgage, car, etc.), and most important having trust in the financial institutions.

The younger generations that are born here learn from their parents and surroundings. There is still a disconnect from the importance of financial products, building credit, and how that process works. Many of these young people are just translating for their parents, explaining financial products, and become an intermediary for conducting business. You will notice an increase in bilingual support at many financial institutions for this reason. There is still a lot of work to do in this regard, and this process will take time.

However, more and more financial institutions are offering products specific to Latinos. Information is becoming available in Spanish and more financial institutions are hiring bilingual and multi-lingual speakers. It will be interesting to see how we as a country adapt to this important demographic. It is truly an untapped market that has an important function in our economy for growth and stability.

The Role of Islamic Finance in Economic Stability and Social Justice

One of the most distinguishing times for the U.S. Islamic home financing industry began in February 2007. The Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) sent out a press release announcing that it would no longer buy the most risky subprime mortgages and mortgage backed securities. Two months after the announcement, a leading subprime mortgage lender filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Three months after that bankruptcy filing, nationwide financing entities warned of “difficult conditions” ahead. Manifestations of such difficult conditions appeared on the horizon of the financial market when once well-established mortgage companies suddenly began to file for Chapter 11. Similar circumstances reached the U.K. as the Bank of England cleared an authorization to provide liquidity support to Northern Rock, the country’s fifth largest mortgage lender. Five months later, Treasury of the United Kingdom became the owner of Northern Rock.

Up until that point, the gravity of these “difficult conditions” was not fully understood by most of the populace. Late in 2008, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York was authorized to lend $85 billion to the AIG. This was the beginning of the most serious recession in the United States since the Great Depression. What followed was a chain reaction that led to an unprecedented global financial crisis, as the world suffered from rising unemployment, rampant foreclosures, and severe skepticism of financial instruments.

This led to a renewed spotlight on an unfamiliar market segment that appeared comparatively more stable and, more importantly, far more ethical: the Islamic financing sector. From the financial centers in Malaysia to the Middle East, spanning across over seventy countries, Islamic finance in the U.S. increased from $5 billion in the 1980s to $1 trillion in 2010. This phenomenal growth caught the attention of global investors who were seeking to safeguard their investments through more ethical and reliable financial instruments. When financial sector workers realized that these Shariah-compliant instruments avoided many of the worst effects of the global financial crisis, it became an attractive investment vehicle to support a more diverse portfolio. The Shariah-compliant financial sector has avoided investment in predatory lending businesses and overly leveraged financial instruments due to the strict ethical nature of the Shariah governance system. News and media outlets started to cover this ancient yet unfamiliar industry in hopes of learning from the mistakes of the conventional banking sector.

The concept of the modern Islamic financial services industry is rooted in the principles of Islamic legal jurisprudence that deals with financial transactions, a branch of Islamic jurisprudence called Fiqh Al Muamalat. Fiqh Al Muamalat is a framework under Islamic Law that charts the conduct of Muslims in commercial or economic endeavors. Islamic finance products and rulings are based on specific injunctions from the Quran that prohibit certain features of financial transaction models and related economic activities.

The Quran forbids interest, also called usury or riba. The underlying reasoning is that Islam considers lending to be a charitable act to help another member of the society in his/her time of need – therefore, profiting from someone’s hardship is strictly forbidden. In the conventional banking system, when interest is charged on a loan, the risk of that transaction is transferred to the borrower while the lender gains profit from the interest-based transaction. There is no consideration for the hardships endured by the borrower in the event they undergo any loss from the transaction.

By its nature, Shariah law prohibits unethical financial practices. It also promotes wealth distribution among all people to reduce poverty and inequity. This is manifested in the prohibitions of activities such as excessive speculation, gambling, and investing in products that are harmful for society as deemed by Islamic law (alcohol, pornography, etc). The structure of Islamic financial products and services, especially its prohibition in speculative transactions, has helped the industry escape most of the adverse effects of the global financial crisis. The governance model of Islamic financial institutions has been praised as an ethical alternative by institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Economic experts have suggested that Islamic financial principles can be leveraged to promote financial inclusion that uplift the quality of life in developing nations. Islamic financial principles can also contribute to financial stability and economic development around the world.
